Marlene came to Milton's New York studio to exercise her right to "approve the photographer." After a short interview, she not only approved, but admired Milton's sensitive manner. Marlene's feline prowess and Milton's one light style created many striking photographs including this one of her lying on a table. A well known image from this sitting was selected by Life in 1997 as '100 Most Important images of the 20th Century' and in 2000, Maison Europeenne de la Photographie selected a print of the image to be a part of the permanent collection.
