HISTORY

Wearing blue pedal pushers and matching blouse, this playful image done in New York City in September, 1954 depicts a lighthearted and relaxed Marilyn. The Wicker sitting was a precursor to the Ballerina series. During their sessions in his studio, champagne and caviar relaxed the subject and yielded extraordinary pictures with such negligible props as this one, a simple wicker chair.
